Character Development

Something you will hear over and over from our coaches is that a player's character is just as important as the ability to play the game of soccer.  We believe that through soccer, we can help our players succeed in life as well.

According the Merriam Webster's Dictionary, Character is one of the attributes or features that make up and distinguish an individual. Cambridge Dictionary defined it as the particular combination of things about a person or place, specifically things you cannot see, that make that person or place different from others.

Your Character is important in your everyday activities. It consists of a set of behavior traits and way the you conduct yourself. Your behavior then determines how other people judge the type of person you are.

When you have good character, you act in a manner that is honorable, courageous, compassionate and ethical. It results in being viewed with respect, it helps you over come difficult situations and feel good about yourself. This increases a players self-esteem and self-respect, and allows you to succeed not only in soccer, but life as well.

By developing character, we raise the level of performance in our players and our teams. If we have players with character, we have better players and better teammates. Character is the key component for success and producing champions on and off the field, and character is something that will carry you through life!

“Be more concerned with your character than your reputation, because your character is what you really are, while your reputation is merely what others think you are. "

"The true test of a man’s character is what he does when no one is watching.”

― John Wooden - member of the Basketball Hall of Fame as both a player and as a coach
